The clean air, smelling of spruce and moss in the summer and of newly fallen snow in winter, is unforgettable in Sweden. Produced by a native, this audiobook is the definitive guide to a country that's nearly 80 percent mountains, vast forests, lakes, and wilderness. But this book covers all, from cities and villages to the Midnight Sun Coast and the islands to the Lapland area: art, culture, folklore, shopping, walks, water sports, and more.

It offers an ideal mix of practical travel info along with activities. And the fun is for everyone, no matter their age or ability. Comprehensive background information - history, culture, geography, and climate - gives you a solid knowledge of each destination and its people. Regional chapters take you on an introductory tour, with stops at museums, historic sites, and local attractions. Places to stay and eat; transportation to, from, and around your destination; practical concerns; tourism contacts - it's all here!

Detailed regional and town routes feature walking and driving tours. Then come the adventures - fishing, canoeing, hiking, rafting, llama trips, and more. Never galloped along a beach on horseback, trekked up a mountain, or explored ancient sites? Adventure Guides include extensive lists of recommended outfitters, with all contact details: email, website, phone number, and location.

West Sweden: Including Gothenburg (Bradt Travel Guides (Regional Guides))
James first travelled to West Sweden in 1986 and was smitten with Scandi-mania from the very outset. He's been back and forth ever since and currently spends several months every year in Sweden. Specialising in the Nordic countries, he has written a total of six guidebooks, including one to the whole of Sweden as well as Bradt's Faroe Islands and Lapland guides. James speaks fluent Swedish which Swedes (and most other people) find quite baffling. Searching to understand why, they regularly ask whether he has a Swedish mother or father. Their incredulity only grows when they learn that he learnt Swedish by mistake -- attending the wrong lecture at university!
